Further Opportunities
From July 2021 the UK government is planning to re-introduce the Post Study Work (PSW) programme which allows post graduate international students to work full time in the UK for 2 years (3 years for PhD students) after you have successfully completed an eligible Higher Education degree course. This will allow you to earn money through full time employment as well as the prospects of securing work visa leading to settlement in the UK. However, there may be other conditions which you should meet in order to secure a work visa depending on when you are applying. For example, if you have a qualification in the shortage occupations list, you are more likely to be considered for permanent employment.
Post Study Work
The UK government has introduced a new Graduate Route (previously called the post study work scheme) from July 2021. This will allow international students who successfully complete their course to seek full time employment in the UK (2 years for graduates and 3 years for PhD students).
University Academic Year
Higher education academic year in the UK begins in September each year and universities usually have two main intakes – one in September/October and the other in January/February. Depending on when you complete your course in India, you can choose the most convenient intake that suits you.
Impact of Brexit
As the UK has exited from the European Union, employment opportunities for international applicants are expected to increase and this could benefit a number of aspirants particularly those with a qualification in the Shortage Occupations List. Therefore, this is one of the most ideal time to act if you are considering the UK as a destination for education or employment.
